Eastern Sierra fall colors: the Sherwin Range in Mammoth Lakes

Another photo taken earlier this month in Mammoth Lakes. I know this sounds bad and like I'm a total lazy-ass but...I shot this one of the Sherwin Range from my condo's parking lot.

We had just arrived and the light was great: so I tossed the telephoto on the Nikon D5100 and framed a few shots of the Sherwin Range. I didn't even bother with the tripod.

Whether the peak should be in the middle of the frame is debatable. Otherwise, there's just enough going on. A banner of fall color at the bottom. A banner of blue sky and clouds at the top. A hint of shade on the peak and that nice path in the snow from the peak -- probably from a rock, perhaps from a backcountry snowboarder.

If you're interested in a print, they're for sale on my SmugMug site. They're affordable and available in 8 x 12, 12 x 18 and 16 x 24. Click here for more details. I like the metallic prints, which really add some pop to the colors.
