El Comedor, downtown Los Angeles

I was doodling around in downtown L.A. and stumbled across this joint that seems a little out of place, even by the standards of DTLA (which is mostly parking lots and old buildings in various states of disrepair).

There weren't a lot of shooting options so I just tried to contrast El Comedor with the more modern L.A. a few blocks distant.

Of course, the best part of the place is the clock:

Light was tough this time of early evening but still fun. If there's a lesson here it's that a lot of places deserve another look with a camera at a different time of day. This might be a good place in the morning -- when sun should be on the front door -- or perhaps its' better in the middle of the night.

So consider this a first crack and I'll be back.
