Moonrise over the Inyo Mountains

This is a moonrise over the Inyo Mountains, photographed just south of Big Pine in California's Owens Valley. The shadow was created by the sun dipping behind the crest of the Eastern Sierra.

This is one of those photos that lacks any particular subject -- just a slice of the type of desert views you get driving U.S. 395 late in the day. Nonetheless, I think I may like it (although that's always subject to change). At least I got the exposure right.

Camera & Settings: Nikon D5100 with Nikon DX 35mm 1.8 lens, f/11, 1/160th shutter speed, handheld, shot in RAW and processed in Lightroom.
