Pleasant Ridge Chili
I've been in Cincinnati the past week on some family business that's not exactly super fun. I haven't had much time to take photos of my hometown but have managed to squeeze in a few minutes here and there while running around town.
Up in the air over Lake Powell
Top photo is Lake Powell, middle photo is touching down in Denver, bottom photo was taken somewhere over eastern Colorado or maybe Kansas.
All taken with VSCO app on my iPhone 5 but I imported the photos into Lightroom on my laptop in order to process.
Unrelated: I paid $25 to United Airlines to bring a piece of baggage with me. I'm in Cincinnati tonight, my bag never left LAX despite the fact I checked in 75 minutes before going aloft. Way to go, United! Rob me of $25 I could have spent on more camera gear! (UPDATE: still waiting for my bag, but I got my 25 boxes of ziti refunded).
Check out my portfolio for prints and licensing and all my photos.

More beeography
Playing around with macro lens in the yard over the weekend. I like this one best: get a taste of the scale of a bee's world.
Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels
Took these at lunchtime recently at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown L.A. It's a pretty striking building -- built to replace the old cathedral damaged in an earthquake.
New lens purchase: Nikon 50mm 1.8
I didn't really need it. But I wanted it and Nikon was offering a $20 rebate. So I plopped down $200 and picked up the Nikon 50mm 1.8g lens recently to use on my Nikon D5100 (and possibly a future camera!). The above are a few of my initial efforts with the lens featuring Sammy the Dog as my involuntary model.
Cheeseboro & Palo Comado Canyons
Went for a nice loop hike in Cheeseboro and Palo Comado Canyons on Sunday afternoon -- a big chunk of land preserved between the San Fernando Valley and Agoura Hills here in So Cal. The canyons include a series of trails criss-cross the rolling Simi Hills, which are now green (but probably not for long) due to some recent rains.
