Calabasas Peak Trail
Made the four-mile roundtrip hike from Stunt Road to Calabasas Peak in the Santa Monica Mountains on Sunday. That's the trail -- actually a fire road -- cutting across the side of the mountain in the above pic as seen from a distance.
Nice hike with some pretty amazing views of the San Fernando Valley and the surrounding mountain ranges as well as a wee bit of an ocean view in the other direction.
Some of the above pics are from the trail, others from further up Stunt Road, a couple others from the trail along Cold Creek in adjacent Stunt Ranch and my fave -- the motorcycle one -- from the saddle where Stunt Road meets Schueren Road.
All pics taken with my Nikon D5100, most with the Nikon DX 35mm 1.8 lens, a couple with the Nikon DX 10-24mm wide angle lens. The butterfly pic (which was cropped) was taken with the 50mm 1.8 lens -- not ideal choice but I stood there until the butterfly landed and let me get close.
Please check out my other work on my SmugMug page, where prints and licensing are available.
