Cayucos

Spent last weekend in Cayucos on California's Central Coast -- one of those lovely towns that time has left behind.

The unincorporated town -- in San Luis Obispo County -- sits between Morro Bay and Cambria. It's notable for its old motor court style motels, lack of chain stores and restaurants, a very creaky pier, a bunch of second homes and a main street (actually Highway One) that appears as if little has changed in the past few decades.

And, of course, a beach that stretches for four miles south to Morro Bay. One guy I ran into at our motel asked if it ever gets warm at the beach in Cayucos -- this was his first visit. My answer: for a few hours here and there each year. :)

Above are some snaps I made while walking around town. Nothing amazing photographically-speaking, but I think they start to capture the spirit of the place.
