New Blue pics

Took Blue over to the old Worldwide Church of God campus in Pasadena for a short session this afternoon with a rental Nikon 85mm 1.8G lens that spits out some pretty nice bokeh. I think I like the top photo the best because of the flippy ears but the second shot -- processed a little differently -- is pretty strong, too.

Chestnut horse in stable

Shot this one at L.A. Equestrian Center earlier this year. Didn't even bother processing it at first -- thought it was a throwaway. Noticed it tonight and am liking it. So there's your lesson: hang onto those original RAW files. You might be liking them one day.

Then again, by tomorrow I might be hating on it :)

Allen's hummingbird

Went to the Huntington recently to play with a macro lens that I rented -- the Nikon 105 2.8. But this hummingbird was hanging around and allowing me to get pretty close -- within 10 to 15 feet -- so I ended up sticking the telephoto lens on my camera and firing away.

Iron Man on Hollywood Boulevard

And then there's the day you realize that you're completely irrelevant. Taken on Hollywood Boulevard, where superheroes go to take pictures with tourists in exchange for tips.

How fast does a pit bull run?

Talk about stressing your autofocus system!

To get this shot, I encouraged my dog, Blue the Pit Bull Mix, to wander about 100 to 150 feet away. I then encouraged her to run straight at me (probably 20 mph or faster), sat down and tried to fire off some shots.

Sun rays and sailboats

Took these just south of the Santa Monica Pier on Sunday as the late afternoon fog was forming.

Blue the pit bull and fall colors

Some recent Blue The Rescue Pit Bull pics. The top one works well because I was able to get Blue to stand still on a terraced wall at Brookside Park (next to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena), allowing me to get the camera at a low angle and shoot up.

Sand spit, Montana de Oro State Park

A photo from the Montana de Oro State Park sand spit that I took last March -- and completely overlooked until now. And now I'm kind of digging it after conversion to black and white and crop to a 16:9 aspect.

All my galleries are here, with info about prints & licensing. Thanks for looking!

Union Station, black and white

East Portal, Los Angeles Union Station.

Shot these for work. The top two were me just fooling around in the East Portal side of Union Station on the way home. The bottom two were taken during the Invisible Cities' performance in the old ticketing room.
